This trip gave us a look into many of the famous and interesting sights in Istanbul, along with the tour bus trip to Cappadocia, Ephesus, Troy and other places.
Starting in Istanbul, we visited Hagia Sophia, Basilica Cistern, Topkapi Palace, the Blue Mosque, Hippodrome. A cruise on the Bosphorus offered views of the greater part of the city, and we of course visited the Grand Bazaar along with the Spice Bazaar.
On the road to Cappadocia
We stayed overnight in Ankara, where we visited the Masuleum of Ataturk, Turkey's famous leader. Next day it was off to Cappadocia, where we began exploring the captivating landscape and ancient places carved into the stone there.
Leaving Cappadocia we visited Pamukkale, Hierapolis, Ephesus, House of the Virgin Mary, Pergamon and Troy.
Having seen an exhibit of the writer/artist Orphan Pamuk in Munich on an earlier trip, we were able to visit his Museum of Innocence on our last day in Istanbul.
